MR Roland John Parkinson, of Harvey Longworth Court, Crawshawbo­oth, passed away at home on Sunday, October 31, aged 70.

Roland, or Roly to his friends, served his country in the REME for 12 years.

He then went on to spend many years driving trucks up and down the country.

He returned to work as an electricia­n, but sadly suffered several strokes which took his sight and ended his career.

Roland enjoyed meals out with family and regular holidays down in Llandudno with the Blind Veterans UK, where he enjoyed lots of different activities.

Roland leaves his foster brothers, nieces and nephews, and greatniece­s and great-nephew.

His funeral will take place on Friday, November 12, when Mr Damien Philips will conduct a celebratio­n of life service and committal at Accrington Crematoriu­m at 10.20am.
