MR Stephen William Wells, of Shawclough Rd, Waterfoot, died peacefully at Salford Royal Hospital, on Saturday, November 6, aged 65.

Waterfoot born and bred, Stephen was the much loved son of

William and Doris Wells.

He started school life at St Anne’s C of E, Edgeside, before going onto Bacup and Rawtenstal­l Grammar School.

His first job was at Whiteheads, Rawtenstal­l, and he later became a self-employed van driver.

Being an avid Burnley football supporter from the age of five, and a Rawtenstal­l Cricket Club member, he was a popular figure in the sporting world.

Lots would remember him standing at the top corner of the bar at the Royal Hotel, Waterfoot, where he enjoyed socialisin­g with friends.

He was interested in local history, and loved travelling on trains and trams, completing the Manchester tram route in one day.

He leaves his parents and a wide circle of family, friends, and neighbours, all of whom are going to miss him dearly.

Funeral to be held on Friday, November 26 at 10am at St Anne’s Church, Edgeside, then 11.30am at Burnley Crematoriu­m, led by Rev S Richardson, with refreshmen­ts at Rawtenstal­l Cricket Club.
