GLEESON Homes welcomed the Mayor of Whitworth to its Spring Mill development in Whitworth.

The Mayor of Whitworth, Coun Maureen Jones, was delighted to lay a ceremonial brick on the foundations of the first plot to be built.

She said: “Living in Whitworth myself, I am very supportive of Spring Mill and the work Gleeson are doing in the community.

“I believe this fantastic new development will bring much-needed prosperity to the area in terms of new jobs, with the affordable new homes boosting our local economy and allowing young first time buyers to achieve homeownership opposed to renting.”

Arron Passarelli, divisional managing director for Gleeson North West said: “It was a pleasure to welcome Mayor of Whitworth, Councillor Maureen Jones, to our development Spring Mill.

“It allowed us to discuss the work that we are doing to provide 119 affordable homes for first time buyers and young families, a large proportion of those who are key workers.

“We were pleased to introduce the Mayor to our onsite team, including apprentices and to show her a range of homes under construction.

“The construction team were especially impressed with the Mayor’s bricklaying skills when she laid the first brick on Plot 92 and we were pleased with the positive feedback we received about the prosperity it brings to the area.

“We pride ourselves on supporting the local community with our affordable homes and employing a workforce on site that

will be made up of local labour and contractors.

“With our homes, we are determined to ensure that the housing market better serves young first time buyers and families on low to average incomes.”

The average selling price for a Gleeson home is around £145,800, with Gleeson building traditional 2, 3 and 4 bedroom homes, primarily for first time buyers.

Spring Mill in Whitworth is Gleeson’s fourth

development in Rochdale.

When complete it will comprise of 119 homes with views of rolling countryside.

The first homes were released for sale in April and the development continues to prove popular,

with all but one of the released homes being reserved currently.

The new show homes and sales centre are expected to open in Spring 2022 with the first new homeowners moving in before Christmas.
