IT has been a week of excellent weather for three contrasting walks.
The first, on
17, gave 20 ramblers a ‘Cook’s tour’ of a number of lovely bridges over the River Ribble on a 10-mile walk from Clitheroe.
The history of many local buildings was also a feature of this splendid walk.
Then on Saturday, November 20, six walkers enjoyed a very pleasant 2 hour walk from Holcombe Brook to Ramsbottom and Summerseat, followed by a delicious lunch at a local pub.
The highlight of the week – weather-wise, at least – was a six-mile walk for 13 people on Sunday, November 21, in glorious sunshine, with beautiful blue skies.
The walk followed the East Colne Circular route, with another mile added for good measure!
Once again, local history was much discussed.
Coming up, you are invited to join us on Sunday, November 28, for a six-mile morning walk from Watergrove
Reservoir to Rhydings Dam and on to Healey Stones.
This walk will finish by 1.30pm or so, giving plenty of time for family or shopping afterwards.
Finally, on Wednesday, December 1, we have a 10-mile walk from Barnoldswick along the Leeds & Liverpool canal and thence to Kelbrook and Earby.
These walks are free, but after three walks with us we ask you to join The Ramblers, at a cost of only £3.05 per month.
