Police at house as an ‘object’ is found

POLICE were called to a house in Bacup after an unknown ‘object’ was found underneath the building.

Emergency services were at the scene on Step Row after being called to the area on Friday.

Pictures showed at least two police vehicles parked on nearby Burnley Road.

Eyewitness­es say a police diving unit was also in attendance with searches being carried out on a culvert.

Lancashire Constabula­ry confirmed they were called to reports of ‘an ordnance/object’ found under the property.

No further details have been released at this stage.

Officers stressed that there was no wider threat to the public and

no properties had been evacuated.

A police spokespers­on

said: “We were called to reports an ordnance/ object had been found under a property in Step Row, Bacup.

“There is no wider threat to the public.

“No properties have been evacuated.”
