MARJORIE BUNTING

-

MARJORIE Bunting passed away peacefully at Olive House on Tuesday, November 23, aged 96.

Born in 1925 in Widnes and brought up in a corner shop in the West Bank area.

During the Second World War she joined the Land Army and worked on a farm in Taunton, Somerset. After the war she returned to Widnes where she met Jim, who she married in 1949.

In 1953 she moved to Rawtenstall with Jim and their son Ian, when Jim became the manager of Bradleys Men’s Outfitters on Bank Street.

Being well used to retail work she worked with Jim and a number of other retail outlets in the town.

She and Jim joined Newchurch Methodists and made many good friends with whom they shared a passion for ballroom dancing and enjoyed many trips out.

She enjoyed lots of time with her grandchildren Amy and Daniel, and to them and a number of friends she was affectionately known as “Nana Madge”.

Sadly, following husband Jim’s death, her health began to deteriorate, and in 2014 she became a resident in Olive House Care Home, where she has since been lovingly cared for.

She leaves her son Ian and daughter-in-law Bernice, her granddaughter Amy and husband Andrew, grandson Daniel and his partner Vicki, and five great-grandchildren.

The funeral will take place on Monday, December 6 at 12.15pm at Burnley Crematorium.

Funeral director: Dawn Winfield for Fred Hamer Funeral Service, Rawtenstall.
