Lighting up the town for festive season
THE festive season is in full swing with Christmas lights celebrations setting the Valley twinkling.
Crowds of people flocked to Rawtenstall’s big switchon on Friday, led by Rawtenstall Market.
As well as the all important tree and lights there was a Christmas bar, food and music and rides for the kids. Market bosses said it was a “magical” event and thanked Stacksteads Brass Band, Rossendale Drum
Majorettes, Luke Taylor, St Peter’s School Choir, Orlagh and Leo, Danny Solazzo and Rossendale Radio.
Rawtenstall Market has also been faring well in the Great British Market Awards, featuring in the top 30 earlier this week. Visit nabma.com to vote before December 13.
Haslingden’s lights switch-on is this Friday from 4pm to 7pm. There will be toys, bakes, gifts, music and free face painting on the market, with the switch flicked from 5pm at the library.
The Britannia Coconutters will be appearing at Bacup Cricket Club’s Christmas fair on Sunday, December 5 from 10am to 2.30pm. There will be stalls, family fun, games and food.
Also on Sunday, a Christmas fair and Santa’s Grotto will be held at Whitewell Bottom Community Centre from 10am to 3pm.
Water Band and Rossendale Drum Majorettes will also star.
