Homes plan blame game
THE blame game over the decision to approve over 130 new homes on a green field site on the edge of Haslingden continues.
Labour activists have been keen to blame the Government, saying they had no reason to refuse the plans, near the area’s three reservoirs. They fail to mention they’d allocated the site for housing development in the Local Plan, thus removing their ability to reasonably oppose the plans.
Now Rossendale Council leader Alyson Barnes has added her thoughts: That Lancashire County Council could have done more, by giving them reason to oppose the developments on grounds of highways or flooding.
Hopefully, the Labour county councillors who serve that part of Rossendale will be able to explain why the county council let local residents down over a planning application for 130 new homes next to one of the most dangerous roads in the county, and in a part of the world which holds its breath every time it rains for more than a few days.
