Footballers and fans in gifts for care home
FOOTBALLERS and supporters united to spread some festive joy over the Christmas period by donating gifts to care home residents.
After contacting Turfcote Nursing Home in Haslingden last month Ramsbottom United received a ‘Santa’s List’ with each resident’s name on it and what gift they would like to receive on Christmas morning.
Since then Rams fans have been busy donating the suggested items and bringing them down to the club – where the supporters’ shed has doubled up as Santa’s Grotto.
There was also a generous donation of £100 from the players and coaching staff towards the cost of some presents.
The club said they had seen “a wonderful response” to the appeal from everyone connected with Ramsbottom
United and not only did each resident get the gift they had requested, they were also each given an additional present, while staff have been treated to tins of chocolates and biscuits.
