Thank-you meal for foodbank volunteers
HARDWORKING volunteers who are helping to stave off hunger this festive season were rewarded with a free meal to say thank you.
The Woolpack asked its customers to pick a cause for its annual Brewing Good Cheer initiative – rewarding those deserving of recognition.
Following nominations, the team from The Raft Foundation – Rossendale’s Foodbank – were invited to the Haslingden venue to put their feet up and enjoy a festive party and Christmas lunch.
The Woolpack’s Keith Murray said: “They have lots of volunteers who work tirelessly feeding families and people in need in our community and after the year we’ve all had with people losing jobs due to Covid, we know this has been vital work.
“So we thought it was only fitting that we can give them meals to enjoy for an afternoon, to return the favour.
“They were very pleased with their deserved afternoon out.”
Raft thanked everyone who nominated the team for the “delicious” lunch.
