Bacup secure Usman’s services

- CRICKET NEAL WILKINSON

BACUP Cricket Club have moved quickly to secure the services of a professional for the 2022 Lancashire League season after it was confirmed Sachithra Serasinghe would not be returning.

A club statement said: “Owing to circumstances beyond our control Sachithra Serasinghe will unfortunately not be returning to Bacup for a third season and his contract has been cancelled.

“Meanwhile the club has moved quickly to secure the services of Pakistani all rounder Khalid Usman, currently captain of Khyber Pakhtunkwa First Class team in Pakistan.

“Khalid is a high quality left arm spinner with almost 500 wickets to his name in all formats and over 5000 runs.

“The 35 year old has plenty of UK experience also having dominated in Yorkshire club cricket for Ossett Albion CC and more recently Undercliffe CC with both bat and ball.

“Khalid also holds an ECB Level 2 coaching qualification and will no doubt be a good addition to our coaching team. We look forward to his arrival and the impact he will have on taking the club forward.

“Our thanks go to Daniel Hancock of Club Vitae Cricket Agency for the swift and professional manner in which the signing has been secured.”
