Is it too much to mask for help?
IT feels, at times, as though experts are at war with each other over how bad the latest wave of Covid is - armed with graphs and data to support their various views.
What isn’t in dispute is that the number of cases is rising here in Rossendale. Between 22 December 2021 and 28 December 2021, 974 people had a confirmed positive test result. This shows an increase of 118.9% compared to the previous seven days.
On December 28 alone, 199 new cases were reported although that may be a bit higher due to the Christmas break.
Either way, there can be no doubting that the new wave is here and we need to do what we can to stop it spreading.
Is wearing a mask really so hard? Certainly for the 60% of people I saw in a Rawtenstall supermarket on the 27th, the answer appears to be yes.
