DO THEY LIVE IN REAL WORLD?

-

DEAR Scribbler

I read your column every week and this week, especially, (December 31) I was interested in your comments re the Labour Council and their lack of public support and their continual ignorance of what the voters in Rossendale really want to see in the local area.

To suddenly ban these charity mugs (‘Fun police make mugs of council with market ban’) seems to me to be a waste of manpower energy!

Surely time spent on local planning and the real issues facing the area are more important.

The work in the centre is at a standstill and we have had many weeks looking at the refurbishment... surely this work could have waited for the early Spring?

I noticed a very disabled elderly lady this morning, having to walk round the fencing to reach the bus station...poor soul!

We had no Christmas tree or space for our local churches to hold outdoor Christmas services...our grandchildren had nowhere to try out their Christmas scooters or friends to sit and chat in the daylight!

Surely this could have happened in the New Year?

Do our Councillors live in the real world, I ask myself?

I am not surprised that so few people vote in local elections!

Thank you for your column.
