MRS Doreen Haworth, of The Laurels Residentia­l Care Home in Bacup, and formerly of Compston

Avenue, Goodshaw, died peacefully at the Laurels on Thursday, December 16, aged 82.

Widow of the late Bryan Haworth, who passed away many years ago, and the mother of the late Julie, she leaves behind sons and daughter David, Graham and Barbara, alongside son and daughters-in-law, Rod, Leanne and Lesley.

Doreen also leaves behind five grandchild­ren - Rebecca, Joshua, Adam, Timothy and Lucy, alongside two greatgrand­children, Poppy and Paige.

Alongside her sister Diane and cousin Janet, Doreen leaves behind great- nieces, nephews, and close friends Wendy and Freda.

Doreen’s working life was spent in the textile industry that once dominated the landscape in the North West of England, working for

Neva Mills in Middleton, Manchester, alongside mills closer to home at Whiteheads of Rawtenstal­l, and Smith and Nephew of Cloughfold.

Among her many interests were holidaying, gardening, watching football - being a staunch supporter of Manchester United - and stock cars, as well as being an avid quizzer.

The funeral will take place on Monday, January 10 with prayers at the Chapel of Rest at 1pm followed by service and cremation at Burnley Crematoriu­m at 1.45pm conducted by the Rev Denise Smith.
