PARTIES INSULT TO THE PEOPLE

-

THE reports of the illegal parties being held at Downing Street are not only shocking, but are an insult to the people of the UK, the vast majority of whom complied with the rules.

Those who were deemed not to have obeyed the rules were fined, like Manchester Mental Health Nurse Karen Reissmann, who was fined £10,000 for organising a socially distanced protest on NHS pay.

Yet whilst draconian fixed penalty notices were being handed out to UK citizens, Boris Johnson’s Government partied. It would appear that Boris Johnson and his staff, friends and family felt that the rules didn’t apply to them.

We all remember the pain of lockdown, being unable to visit friends and family, contact with the sick and dying reduced to phone and video calls, being unable to attend funerals and mourn properly. The people of Rossendale made all those sacrifices and more, which is why it is all the more shocking to see how Boris Johnson’s Tory Government blatantly disregarded the rules which were meant to keep us all safe.

So why was Rossendale MP Jake Berry all over the media last week defending Johnson and claiming he was “the right man for the job”?

A man who openly admits that he cannot tell the difference between a work meeting and a party, and who only apologises because he has been found out, is not fit to hold the office of Prime Minister.

He has even had to apologise to the Queen for Downing Street parties held, unbelievably, on the evening before the funeral of Prince Philip.

Boris Johnson brings the office of Prime Minister, and the reputation of the UK, into disrepute. Jake Berry lets down the people of Rossendale & Darwen by supporting him, and shows how out of touch he is with the people he is supposed to represent.

We can no longer tolerate the “One rule for us, another one for everyone else” culture led by Prime Minister Johnson.
