MP’s cash bid as school visits minister

-

ROSSENDALE’S MP Jake Berry said he is working on funding bid proposals for improvements for a Stacksteads school, after meeting the Secretary of State for Education.

He welcomed staff from Valley Leadership Academy to meet Nadhim Zahawi in Westminster last week.

Jake said: “It’s great to see millions are being invested to rebuild Whitworth High School and All Saints High, but I’m also working on plans to secure investment for improvements at Valley Leadership Academy.

“Over the last few years we’ve made huge improvements at the school formerly known as Fearns. Academic results are significantly improved and feedback from pupils, families and the staff is positive.”

The Valley MP said he arranged for the school to meet the Minister to press home the need for funding to help the school complete its transformation.

He said: “It was nearly five years ago that I met with parents and pupils and promised to do everything possible to support them, to, drive up standards and to work to give the school a new start to help it change for the better. We are well on the way with that journey, but one area that still needs work is the school buildings themselves. The meeting was positive and constructive, but rest assured I’ll be keeping up the pressure to secure the funding we need to keep on improving the school.”
