Bid to set up takeaway

-

A PLANNING application for a new pizza restaurant and takeaway has been submitted to the council.

Mr M Oliver has applied to Rossendale council for change of use permission for the vacant retail unit at 37a Market Street, inside Bacup’s Conservation Area.

The plans include the installation of extraction flue system to side and new signage at the property, formerly a hair salon.

The supporting design, access and heritage statement accompanying the application says: “The property is located within Bacup Conservation Area and is deemed ‘positive unlisted building of medium quality.’ The proposal would provide internal seating area for patrons to enjoy hot cooked food, especially for shoppers, whilst also providing a new food outlet service for the local community.”

The statement says the proposal will provide employment as well as a “much needed economic boost to the existing area by providing a new restaurant within the parade with seating, thereby attracting patrons from the local community and businesses.”
