Awards show pride in our local heroes
THIS week, we are looking at The Pride of Rossendale Awards. Rossendale Hospice in association with Rossendale Radio are launching the inaugural Pride of Rossendale Awards that are aimed specifically at those in our community who selflessly work voluntarily to help others in the Rossendale Valley.
There are seven categories that span groups and individuals worthy of recognition as local heroes for what they have achieved. The categories are: Woman of the Year, awarded to the woman who is worthy of recognition for their work in the community. Man of the Year, awarded to the man who is worthy of recognition for their work in the community. Young Person of the Year, awarded to the young person who is worthy of recognition for
their work in the community. Community Group of the Year, awarded to the community group that is worthy of recognition for their work in the community. Hospice Star of the Year, to be awarded to the volunteer who has made a particularly contribution to supporting the Hospice. Supportive Business
Award, to the business that is recognised as making a particular contribution to our community. There will also be a special Pride of the Valley Award, that will be given to an individual who has touched the lives of many people or has done extraordinary things for everyone in the Valley.
The awards ceremony will take place at The Ashcroft in Whitworth on June 17 with tickets at £35, and £20 for nominees.
The awards are now open for nominations until April 30. So if you know a person or a group who you feel has made a significant contribution to your life or that of your community, why not nominate them for an award?
