On track for month of fun
EAST Lancashire Railway (ELR) has announced its calendar of events for April including murder mystery nights, children’s adventure days and fine dining experiences.
The heritage railway, which runs through Rawtenstall and Ramsbottom, is preparing for a busy month with a mix of events for all the family.
Parents looking to entertain their children over the Easter break can now book one of the railway’s adventure days for children, including dinosaur and wizard-themed days.
The ELR is set to host its first murder mystery night, ‘Murder Mystery - Malice in Wonderland,’ since the beginning of the pandemic.
Guests will enjoy an interactive experience for aspiring detectives.
Malice in Wonderland is taking place on Saturday, April 30 and will return on August 6.
Returning for the second time this year after selling out in February, the Wizards’ Academy is an interactive day out for all aspiring witches and wizards. Magicians of all abilities will gather at the ELR, and enjoy a spellbinding adventure to work on wand waving, brush up on broomstick skills and defeat the evil forces that might be out to spoil the day.
Taking place on Wednesdays, April 6 & 13, and Friday, April 15, guests will also enjoy a steam ride through the Irwell Valley.
Also making a return following a sellout event earlier in 2022 is a time travelling steam journey, taking passengers back to the Jurassic period. Dinosaur lovers will be able to get up close with prehistoric creatures during the train ride, with adults and children alike taking part in a host of entertaining activities on Thursdays April 7 & 14.
A range of fine dining experiences have also been announced by ELR, including the Red Rose diners on April 1, 2, 8, 9, 15, 22, 23 and 29.
Guests will enjoy a fourcourse dinner on board traditional Pullman-style carriages.
Other dining events include the St George’s Diner on April 23 and Sunday lunches on 3, 10, 17, and 24.
