Plenty of events to celebrate Queen’s jubilee
THIS week, we are looking a celebrations for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in Rossendale.
The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee is without doubt a once in a lifetime occasion, and there are a number of community groups and organisations who are planning events to celebrate this historic occasion on the extended weekend of June 2-5.
These events will include a broad range of themed attractions and activities all being planned by local organisations throughout Rossendale for the community to enjoy. The weekend is not only being seen as an opportunity to celebrate a 70-year commitment by Her Majesty the Queen, but as an ideal opportunity to bring our communities together in celebration after what has been an extremely difficult period for everyone over the past two years.
The range of activities include a Picnic at Stacksteads Recreation Ground, a Funfair at Marl Pits Leisure Centre, Jubilee Waffle at the ABD Community Centre in Bacup, music from a Queen tribute band at The Ashcroft in Whitworth, an exhibition of Bacup Women at War and previously unseen Royal memorabilia at Bacup Natural History Society & Museum.
Further events are being planned at The Holden Arms
Haslingden, Hare and Hounds Stacksteads, The ABD Centre Bacup, The Whitaker Museum Rawtenstall, The Ashcroft Whitworth, Dansworks Bacup, Trinity Baptist Church Bacup, Whitewell Bottom Community Centre, Cowpe Community Hall, Bacup Cricket Club, Haslingden Community Link and Bacup town centre.
