THANKS FOR YOUR VOTES
ROSSENDALE Labour Party would like to thank the people of Rossendale for the support they have given us in the recent local elections.
We’re delighted to have gained two seats from the Conservatives, Irwell and Whitewell, and in doing so, regained overall control of Rossendale Council.
We’d like to welcome Mary Coogan, the newly elected Councillor for Whitewell, and welcome back Michelle Smith, who held Irwell Ward until 2018 and we’re pleased to say was successful in winning it back this time.
We’re also pleased to welcome back two former Councillors, Liz McInnes for Longholme and Annie McMahon for Hareholme and would like to thank our retiring Councillors Christine Gill and Joseph Stevens for their years of loyal service to the community.
With Council Leader Alyson Barnes retaining her Goodshaw seat and Jackie Oakes and Ann Kenyon successfully defending Stacksteads and Worsley it was, all in all, a great result for Labour women.
Our commiserations and heartfelt thanks to our candidates Neil Looker, David Hancock and Tom Belli who were sadly unsuccessful but we know that they will come back fighting next year.
We’re delighted that the people of Rossendale have shown the confidence that they have in us by re-electing us and giving us back our majority.
It’s a great verdict on the work we’re doing in revitalising our towns and people clearly want to give us a chance to do more.
Many residents told us that they feel let down by the Tories and our pledge to you is that we will strive to work on your behalf in an honest and transparent manner and that we will
not make promises we cannot keep.
We’re looking forward to the year ahead and we will not let you down. Rossendale Labour Party via email
