“Their success is testament to the girl’s hard work and determination and embedded through the fantastic collaborative work of Water Primary School and BFCitC.

“The core values of our small school have once again been demonstrated at a regional level showing how respect, self-belief, resilience, being healthy and active are at the heart of everything we do, and I would like to thank staff and teachers from the school and the Education Team at BFCitC for supporting all children at Water Primary School.”

The morning included five games back-to-back in which they won an incredible four out of five.

In the afternoon, they faced five more teams including Manchester United and Manchester City. The girls from the Burnley Road East based school kept in high spirits as they won another two matches.

The pupils conceded their final two matches but still came in an unbelievable third place.

Burnley FC and Water Primary were commended on their performances and efforts.

Burnley FC First Team Women’s Player, Olivia Wilson, said: “I have no words! One of my proudest moments was watching these girls, playing with freedom, and enjoying themselves!”
