Choir’s century of song is honoured
ACHOIR received a certificate of appreciation for their 100 years of service from the Mayor after performing at a full council meeting last week.
Rossendale Male Voice Choir sang We Rise Again and finished with a piece close to their hearts, Anthem from Chess for the people of Ukraine at the full meeting of Rossendale Borough Council.
The choir were delighted to receive from the Mayor of Rossendale, Councillor Anne Cheetham, a certificate of appreciation which read: “In recognition of all your work and that of your predecessors over the last 100 years and a token of appreciation on behalf of Rossendale
Borough Council. For 100 years this tradition has been continued in an enthusiastic manner, combining voices from throughout the borough.
“This certificate is presented as a special thank you by the Mayor of Rossendale to recognise your achievements.”
The spokesperson for the choir, Charles Crowley greeted all the dignitaries be their titles, he then thanked them for their kind invitation, by adding with should chambers around the country always resounded to talk, but never singing, and they aimed to change that.
Charles added by mentioning to the council of their recent win of The Lancashire Choir of the Year in Lancaster in November 2022 which got a round of applause from the council.
At the end of the mini concert, Charles thanked Matthew Thomas and Liz Baker for their hard work.
After the concert some of the members progressed to their favourite watering hole, The Northern Whisper in Rawtenstall to continue the celebrations.
The choir is inviting the public to submit their photos to be in with the chance of having them featured on their website.
They want to spruce up their three-year-old website with new images.
They are looking for photography enthusiasts to take photos from around Rossendale.
