ROSSENDALE RAMBLERS

-

DESPITE a good deal of rain this week, our walks managed to escape most of it, though conditions were often quite muddy underfoot.

The lack of rain was fortunate, because our walk from Briercliffe on Wednesday, March 29 was the toughest so far this year. Although only a little over 10 miles in length, the extensive climbs and descents made it difficult, but the 20 ramblers soldiered on, relishing the challenge.

In complete contrast, our morning pub walk from Bury on Saturday, April 1 was in bright and sunny conditions, so the 17 walkers and three dogs had a lovely time, enjoying the sculptures in Burrs Country Park and the extended social in the pub afterwards.

Finally, on Sunday, , beautiful sunny weather greeted the six people who turned up for a very scenic 10 mile walk from Worston. It included the pretty village of Downham, with the bulk of Pendle Hill being visible for much of the walk.

On Good Friday, we are supporting a seven mile Relay for Life walk in aid of Cancer Research.

The walk starts at 11 am from Marl Pits Leisure Centre, the organisers asking for a small donation to take part in the walk. There is no need to book, just turn up and enjoy the walk.

Then on Wednesday, April 12 we are in the Oldham area for a 10 mile walk that will take in the remarkable scenery around Dovestones Reservoir, as well as other parts of the Oldham Way.

Our walks are free, but after three walks with us we ask you to join The Ramblers, at a cost of only £3.21 per month.
