BIG PICTURE
WHAT you’ve been saying on our Facebook page:
●●A STUDENT from Rawtenstall who died after a sudden and short illness will be commemorated during a funeral service. Isabel Kate Connolly-Wellock died suddenly on Friday, March 31 in the Royal Blackburn hospital. The 16-year-old student who studied at All Saints’ Roman Catholic High School in Waterfoot has been described by her family as a ‘lovely, caring young person’. (April 21).

So sad bless her. RIP sweetheart

●●A CIVIC-MINDED resident has asked council bosses if he can prune a tree amid fears its low-hanging branches could pose a risk to kids. Darren Melvin has submitted an application to Rossendale Borough Council to trim the sycamore tree on the green in Springbank Gardens in Goodshaw. Although Mr Melvin owns part of the land the remainder is understood to belong to the local authority and he has sought clarification regarding the legality of pruning the tree (see page 4).
Tchecky Shbz: British standards? Britain has no standards.
Angela Ashley Ludlow:
Just do it. Jesus Christ permission for this, permission for that in my day you would JUST GO AND DO IT...especially if your child was gonna hurt themselves
Lisa Skip Jakeway: So now trees have become dangerous. How did we manage in the past? Maybe just tell your kids to look where they are going or better still just don’t breed.

●●A SWANKY new bar is set to open after plans were given the green
light. Tim Craig submitted an application to Rossendale Borough Council to convert the ground floor of a property at 717 Bacup Road in Waterfoot which he described as “dead space”. The upstairs is currently occupied with the ground floor used as “a breakout area” with documents submitted with the application adding that “the ground floor presently acts as ‘dead space’ and the applicant has carefully considered utilising this space for the benefit of
local the economy and local residents”. (See page 6).
Colin Chester: There’s got to be something to look forward to in Rossendale Victoria Elizabeth: Need to get rid of some of the take outs
Stevie Purcell: Finally it’s Waterfoot’s time to have a make over. I visit so frequently and always always want to pop to Waterfoot for dinner or a nice drink - doesn’t always have to be Rawtenstall and you can walk home from
Waterfoot. I’ve seen changes and they all seem very positive - be so good.
Sharon Mawdesley: Good spot corner of BRE, must be good for Waterfoot.
Andy Clegg: Nice change from takeaways….. good luck and hope it gets full approval
Victoria Aulton: We were only recently saying how this would be a good wine/tapas bar Ben Buckley xxxxxx
Colin Bracewell: Only two pubs left in Waterfoot. It’ll be a struggle for this one as pubs need pubs to survive.
