-

TRIBUTES have been paid to a ‘bubbly’ and ‘cheeky’ construction worker who ‘would do anything for anyone’.

John O’Rourke of Newchurch Road, Stacksteads passed away peacefully after a short battle with metastatic bladder cancer at home surrounded by his loving friends and family on March 27, aged 44.

The beloved father-of-six was diagnosed with metastatic bladder cancer in March last year and received a variety of treatment including chemotherapy, radiotherapy, bone therapy and hydrotherapy.

He worked for Plasters R Us for a few years and he joined Heritage in Rossendale as a construction worker, building walls and railings.

His wife, Nolene, said: “He was a fantastic man. He was bubbly and cheeky and he would do anything for anyone.

“He would talk to anyone and if someone wanted something, he’d do it and he’d give it a try.”

John was born to parents Elizabeth and William and he was raised in Haslingden.

He moved to London when he was a teenager where he completed an apprenticeship at college which landed him a job as an electrician.

After living in London, he moved back to Rossendale for a change of lifestyle.

He began working for haulage company Bookers for eight years and then met Nolene at his sister’s wedding in 2002 when John was living in Stacksteads.

They got married at St Peter’s Church in Newchurch in 2014.

The couple were due to go to Tenerife this year for a family holiday and would have celebrated their 10th anniversary.

John liked playing bingo in Rose Mount in Rossendale and in Burnley.

He also enjoyed going out for meals at The Rose ‘N’ Bowl in Stacksteads.

John enjoyed many trips to different destinations such as Wales, Scarborough and Scotland with his brother-in-law Anthony and sisterin-law Jenny and their children, as well as his mother Elizabeth and mother-in-law Pat and his children.

John will be dearly missed by his wife Nolene, children Jordan, Leon, Paige, Aaron, Courtney and Dominic, mother Elizabeth, mother-in-law Pat, siblings Kevin, Robert, and Liz, nephews, nieces, brothers-in-laws and sisters-in-laws.
