MY LIFE IN PICTURES… RICHARD COCKERILL

Rugby World - - LIFE IN PICTURES -

“This is a happy moment in Toulon. An amazing place. It was a perfectly-timed move in that, er, I’d just become available for employment. For whatever reason, myself and Leicester had fallen out of love with each other and it was time for me to go.

“Thanks to then coach Mike

Ford, I went over as an assistant and, after Mike left, I was head coach for seven or eight games.

“From Leicester to Toulon was like going from the frying pan to the furnace. I enjoyed every minute. Owner Mourad Boudjellal just wanted to win. We went all the way to the (Top 14) final. I have a lot to thank Toulon for.”

“We (Edinburgh) haven’t had much expectation around the team for a little while. We had a better season last year but it will only get tougher.

“We can get better but everyone else gets better and everyone else treats you differently and with a bit more respect. Nothing is going to get solved in 12 months, but we’re making progress. I’m enjoying the challenge.”
