No 8 Emily Pratt scored the decisive try (below) as Cambridge beat Oxford 8-5 in the 30th women’s Varsity Match. Alice Elgar added a penalty while Katie Collis scored a consolation try for Oxford.
Cambridge wing Amelia Miller, who only took up rugby eight weeks before the Twickenham clash, was named Player of the Match. She said: “It was a crazy feeling walking out and playing here.”
In the men’s match, former Saracens full-back Ben Ransom starred as Oxford thumped the Light Blues 38-16. Tries by Dan Barley (two), Charlie Pozniak, Tom Stileman and Tom Humberstone did the damage, the latter also kicking 13 points.
