THE FIRST XV at Merchiston Castle ended 2018 on a high by winning the Scottish Schools U18 Cup at Murrayfield.

Captain James Dobie was Player of the Match as the Edinburgh school beat St Aloysius’ College 40-7 to lift the trophy for a record sixth time – and the first time in ten years.

Merchiston director of rugby Roddy Deans. “Many of these boys have been in the school since their primary years and are firmly rooted into our culture.
