3 DAN BIGGAR – HIGH KICK AND REGATHER
Many feel that Anscombe is in pole position after the autumn. He’s played a lot at 15 due to his pace and this is something he exploits at ten, particularly when counter-attacking. What gives Anscombe a point of difference is the pace at which he challenges the defensive line from the fly-half channel. He instinctively sees a half-gap and has the pace to get through it. Or if he doesn’t, he commits defenders and leaves holes for others. Anscombe can deliver quick, long passes to those spaces and whilst running at pace – but he is susceptible to interceptions. Below shows a Cardiff Blues try he made v Benetton, committing the outside defender to give his wing a simple score.
