“I RETIRED from international rugby in 2011 and after several attempts at retiring from club rugby I played my last match in 2017 as part of a legends game at the Women’s World Cup in Ireland.

“I’ve found retirement tough but after two marathons, three rowing challenges, one business, one honorary doctorate, one written and published book, Mud, Maul,Mascara, one marriage and one baby, I’ve finally sussed this retirement thing. I’m now happy in my own shoes.

“I’ve recently started a new career as a secondary school teacher and I really feel like I am in the right place. This year will be a tough challenge no doubt, but I’m now using my past to fuel my future rather than pull me back.

“I’ll always be a true rugby fan and as a Bath supporter will try to get to at least one game a season. I’ll always support my local club, Folkestone, and may end up on the side of a mini rugby pitch when my daughter is a little older!”
