IN WALES, those under the age of 18 could resume “rugby activity” from 27 March, subject to public health conditions continuing to be favourable.

The WRU worked with the Welsh Government and partners within the National Sports Group. They also held an online meeting with hundreds of club operations managers to put plans in place for the return of community rugby.

Bristol Bears have agreed a first professional contract with 18-year-old

Clifton College fly-half Jac Lloyd, the younger brother of Wales international Ioan. Leicester Tigers have been running activity sessions for more than 600 youngsters at schools in the area and plan more for after the Easter break. Nottingham Building Society are supporting the project.

Steve Hanna, from Tigers’ community team, said: “It was brilliant to see kids enjoying being outdoors, running around and trying rugby for the first time.”
