Joe Simpson set the record for the fastest throw of a rugby ball in April 2011. The Gloucester scrum-half, then of Wasps, recorded a throw of 48mph in a speed cage, beating Nic Berry, Kenny Logan, Mark Robinson and Tom Varndell.
