Make the bed the centre of attention
In a small room it’s tempting to put the bed in the corner to make more space, but it should be the focus, so it deserves to be in the middle.
Layer up your bedding
Use a fitted base sheet and a top sheet. If your duvet is large and reversible, fold over the top section so a different pattern shows. If not, fold the top sheet back over it for the same effect.
Mix and match different fabrics and textures
Knits are popular at the moment, but you can even mix up cable, chunky and regular knits. Other natural materials, like suede, cotton and fur, will all look great alongside each other.
Layer your rugs too
Rugs make an exposed wood floor much softer and cosier in a bedroom. Jute is a tidy and classic start, but it’s not very nice on bare feet in the morning, so top it with a sheepskin to sink your toes into.
In a small room, lay one of the rugs partially under the bed
This expands the area of the bed and helps frame it.
