Close watch on weapons
LONDON BOROUGHS WITH THE HIGHEST NUMBER OF ARRESTS FOR CARRYING A WEAPON
THE Metropolitan Police have released figures showing which boroughs in London have the highest level of arrests for weapon possession from January to July 2019.
Although the figures demonstrate how many people have been caught with a weapon, it will of course not show you those that were not caught.
Police advise that if you are caught illegally carrying a knife or a gun (even an imitation one) you will be arrested and prosecuted.
It is no excuse to say it was for your own protection or you were carrying it for someone else.
With knife crime firmly under the spotlight in London the figures allow for the public to gain an insight into the true levels of weapon possession in the capital.
In London since the start of the year there have been 524,820 recorded crimes, of those 4,319 have been for possession of a weapon.
This represent 0.8 per cent of all crime in London.
