DOCTOR’S NOTE
Reading, yoga and time with family may help lower the risk of dementia.
Mental, physical and social leisure activities reduce the chance of developing the condition by 17%, scientists found.
Researchers reviewed 38 studies involving more than two million people.
Prof Lin Lu, of Peking University Sixth Hospital, Beijing, China, said previous studies had conflicted on the hobbies/dementia relationship.
But her team found leisure activities such as crafts, volunteering and playing sports “were linked to a reduced risk”.
