Tributes paid to ‘much-loved’ grandfather at scene of death

-

RESIDENTS of the Greenford community gathered on Sunday to pay tribute to the “much-loved” grandfather who was stabbed to death on Tuesday August 16.

Dozens have been seen gathered near to where Thomas O’Halloran, 87, was killed laying flowers and singing songs.

One tribute, from Martina and Colm, reads: “A party will be had in heaven with musicians and singees from Clare.

“They will rejoice at the sound of your music. Heaven is special because you are there. My loss I never knew you and my heart is heavy today. God speed and bless you Tom O’Halloran. May the angels guide you on your way.”

Mr O’Halloran, known affectionately as ‘Mr Tom’, was a well-known and well-liked member of the Greenford community, and was regularly seen playing his accordion outside of the local Tesco to raise money for war-torn Ukraine.

Several Irish people have been pictured wearing Irish football and Gaelic t-shirts in a tribute to O’Halloran, who was originally from Co Clare in the west of Ireland.
