‘Chaos’ in Ealing as moped riders mount pavement
LOCALS DESCRIBED THREE MEN AS ‘YOUTHS’
A GROUP of moped riding ‘youths’ have apparently been causing ‘havoc’ in West London as they have reportedly been narrowly missing pedestrians while riding down the pavement in Ealing.
The three motorists were caught on camera weaving in and out of walkers along Greenford Avenue, Hanwell, and scarcely squeezed past shoppers who were coming out of the Co-op supermarket.
In between dodging members of the public, the motorists were seen popping wheelies and revving their engines during the incident, which happened last weekend.
Locals have described the three men as ‘youths’ and claimed that the same group have ‘run riot’ over the last few weeks.
The latest incident happened on Saturday, September 3, at around 9pm, when a video was taken of the boys on their bikes. During the short clip, members of the public try to get the riders to calm down and stop racing down the pavement.
Suenery Rajendran, who took the video, said: “These people are disturbing our peaceful life every single day. They are riding on the pavement, making loud engine noise, shouting outside the off license, and pressing their horns.”
At the end of the video the cameraman approaches the bikers, filming their registration plates and warning them that the police will be called in the future.
The bikers attempt to cover their plates before the video cuts out.
Samantha Baxter, 36, who lives close to Cuckoo Road, Hanwell, explained how the bikers were affecting local people.
She said: “I’ve seen them a few time especially when I go to the shops after I finish work. A few times they have nearly hit people and it’s really anti-social. I think that it’s only a matter of time before someone gets injured by them. They all seem to be teenagers but it is hard to tell.
“Mainly it’s just intimidating for the people that live round here because they often have masks on and make a lot of noise. I’m sure people are scared of them.”
The moped riders have reportedly been spotted outside of shops in Ruislip Road and The Broadway over the last few weeks.
Locals have warned the boys that if they keep ‘terrorising’ people than the police will be contacted.
