■ THIS latest Star Wars spin-off is a prequel to Rogue One that’s set before the original A New Hope, and charts the rise of the Rebel Alliance. A 12-parter with a noir feel, the series sees Diego Luna return to the role of Cassian Andor, a pilot and intelligen­ce officer, and we see how after his initial scepticism he becomes fully committed to the rebel cause in a murky, dangerous world of deception, political manoeuvrin­g and tyrannical repression. Expect a slow-burner full of intrigue from show-runner Tony Gilroy, the writer who scripted the Bourne films.

DANCE OFF STRICTLY COME DANCING BBC One, Friday, September 23, 7pm

AFTER being delayed for a week, it’s full-on glitz and glamour as Strictly returns for its new series with this preview show in which Rose Ayling-Ellis and Giovanni Pernice perform their winning routine from last year again before we get to meet the 15 celebritie­s in sequins (including Matt Goss, Ellie Simmonds and Tony Adams) who’ll be competing this year and see which profession­al dancers they’ll be partnered up with. They’ll all be getting their first dances out of the way on Saturday (BBC One, 6.45pm) as the competitio­n begins in earnest.

DARK COMEDY AM I BEING UNREASONAB­LE? BBC One, Friday, September 23, 9.50pm

DAISY May Cooper’s dark comedy, postponed from last week, finally finds its way to our screens this week and it’s well worth the wait. Cooper plays Nic, a bored mother with an unhappy marriage who’s secretly grieving someone. She finds a friend in fellow mum Jen (Selin Hizli) but as they bond over wine, Nic begins to wonder if she can really trust her. Belly laughs and uncomforta­ble revelation­s sit side by side in this six-part series in which things start to unravel all too quickly.

TANGLED WEB INSIDE MAN BBC One, Monday, September 26, 9pm

WRITER Steven Moffat (Doctor Who, Sherlock) is back with a gripping new fourpart drama that sees the lives of four strangers become entangled in surprising ways. From a journalist looking for a story in England, to a prisoner on death row in the USA, to a vicar picking up his son’s maths tutor from the station, the overlap in those four lives bring on a dilemma that could lead to murder. An impressive cast is led by Stanley Tucci, David Tennant, Kate Dickie and Dylan Baker.
