Comedy whodunnit promises to have killer streak of humour
FOR their next production, Ruislip Dramatic Society return to the Compass Theatre with a whodunnit that would see even Poirot at a loss for words, but will bring a smile to the faces of thousands of Agatha Christie fans worldwide.
Set in a country manor house in the 1930s, Peter Gordon’s Murdered to Death is a hilarious spoof of the Agatha Christie genre with all the traditional character stereotypes beautifully portrayed to the delight of the audience.
There is Miss ‘Maple’ who is of course rather good at detective work, an English Colonel with the pre-requisite stiff upper lip, as well as a shady French art dealer and his moll.
That’s not to mention Inspector Pratt, England’s answer to
Inspector Clouseau who struggles valiantly to solve the murder in spite of his complete incompetence.
Add to this the drunken butler Bunting plus a traditional English policeman and you have all the ingredients for this comic murder mystery, often billed as “the funniest whodunnit that Agatha Christie never wrote”.
Murdered to Death is the first and most successful play of Gordon’s Inspector Pratt Trilogy and has been performed worldwide in more than 950 productions.
It will be staged from November 9 to 12 at the Compass Theatre, Glebe Avenue, Ickenham.
Tickets are £12 or £11 concessions (available on Wed/ Thu only). Book online at www. ruislipdramatic.org and www. hillingdontheatres.uk, or call RDS on 01895 632 300 or the Compass on 01895 250 615.
