Frank not interested in Villa hot seat

-

BRENTFORD boss Thomas Frank has ruled himself out of the Aston Villa managerial vacancy.

The Dane is fifth-favourite with the bookies at 10/1 to replace Steven Gerrard, writes Ashley Preece.

Speaking after his side’s 4-0 defeat at Villa Park on Sunday, Frank was asked if he’s ruled himself out of the Villa job, and said: “Yeah, exactly... I have a job and I love my job at Brentford. That’s what I’m focusing on. Right now, I’ve just lost 4-0 and the only thing I feel right now in my body is pain. I’m not spending too much time with all of the rumours, to be fair.”

Leon Bailey, a brace from Danny Ings and Ollie Watkins were in the goals for managerless Villa, with Bees boss Frank complimenting caretaker Aaron Danks and the home side.

He said: “It will be much easier to evaluate tomorrow for various reasons but, Villa, it’s a well done job, winning 4-0 in a game after the week they’ve had is impressive. We knew that the first 15 minutes was going to be the game but they came flying out, high energy, pressing, running and getting in behind us. I’d say well played to the first corner for the 1-0 goal as well.

“After that it was ‘don’t go down 2-0’ but it was pretty good play from Villa again, but the third is a big mistake that we should never, ever do, the 3-0 goal. Ajer tries to see (Tyrone Mings) trying to come across... but 3-0 after 14 minutes made it almost impossible. I was convinced one goal could have made it a little bit exciting at the start of the second half, but it was 4-0 and I was hoping the clock would run out.”
