■ AFTER the success of the first film, Sherlock’s little sister is back for another rip-roaring adventure on the cobbled streets of Victorian London. Millie Bobby Brown returns as the intrepid Enola who has now set up her own detective agency similar to her brother Sherlock (Henry Cavill) but finds things aren’t so easy for a female sleuth. She’s about to give up on her new venture when the case of a missing person proves to be more intriguing than it first appears and takes Enola to some dangerous and surprising places.
VIDEO STARS BLOCKBUSTER Netflix, from Thursday, November 3
■ THERE’S not a little irony that the world’s biggest streaming service should champion the last Blockbuster video store left in the USA. But beyond that, this comedy series is a poignant look at a community struggling to survive in a fast-changing world with manager Timmy Yoon (Randall Park) and his staff trying to provide a human alternative to the faceless corporate world. An affecting drama that blends the laughs with some bittersweet observations on modern life.
CLUB CULTURE THE HACIENDA: THE CLUB THAT SHOOK BRITAIN BBC Two, Saturday, November 5, 10.15pm
■ THE infamous Manchester nightclub was the epicentre of the city’s music and culture in the 1980s and early 1990s and this revealing documentary charts its history and examines its influence and legacy. Established by record label Factory thanks to the success of New Order, the Hacienda was where acid house and rave found a home and, at its height, was the launchpad for a variety of acts. Manc luminaries Peter Hook, Stephen Morris, Noel Gallagher and Shaun Ryder hold forth on the Hacienda scene.
FORCING THE ISSUE STAR WARS: TALES OF THE JEDI Disney+
■ IF you just can’t get enough Star Wars action at the moment – even with Rogue One prequel Andor still going strong – here’s an animated series looking at the backstories of various Jedi warriors from the prequel trilogy era. Tales Of The Jedi shows us how famous Jedi knights attained their knowledge of the Force and developed their skills as well as the discipline and restraint they had to master. Look out for some notable characters including Darth Sidious, Dooku, Ashoka, Obi-Wan Kenobi and a certain Anakin Skywalker.
INTENSIVE CARE
THE GOOD NURSE Netflix, streaming now
■ THIS gripping thriller has a top-notch cast with Oscar-winners Jessica Chastain and Eddie Redmayne in the lead roles. Chastain plays Amy, a nurse and single mother with a lifethreatening heart condition, who is struggling physically and emotionally with the demands of her night shifts on an ICU. She seems to have found an ally at work when kindly fellow nurse Charlie (Redmayne) starts working with her, but a series of mysterious patient deaths prompts an investigation that seems to point towards Charlie.
