Plans submitted to turn old bank into three restaurants
A former Barclays bank could be turned into three new restaurants under plans submitted to Hounslow Council.
The huge building in Bath Road is a short walk from Hounslow West Station and has been empty since February when Barclays closed its branch doors.
However, the large unit may not be empty for long as new plans suggest it could be turned into three new restaurants.
Documents show ambitions to transform the large shop into three separate units. In the submitted drawings, there will be two large restaurants while the third will be smaller to make some room for office space. If approved, the restaurants will need 21 employees, 18 of which will be full-time. The estimated cost of transforming the bank into the three restaurants is said to be around £2million. The plans were submitted by Consilio Town Planning on behalf of the applicant.
The types of eateries were not listed in the documents. If approved, the restaurants will join the busy retail street which already has a number of Indian restaurants and takeaways, plus four grocery stores.
Hounslow West is not the only community to have lost its Barclays bank this year. By the end of 2022, the bank will have shut down more than 100 of its branches across the UK. The closures come after the bank re-evaluated how its customers do their banking, stating it had more than 10 million digital customers with almost 70% of its banking available online.
