Middlesex appoint new participation director to spread word

-

MIDDLESEX Cricket have announced that Kari Carswell has been appointed as the club’s new participation director.

After an extensive recruitment process, which saw an appointed panel interview candidates from both within and outside of the organisation, Carswell’s appointment was made official last week.

Carswell has been in place as Middlesex’s and MCC’s head of women’s cricket since joining the club in the summer of 2021, and she will take charge of the club’s participation team in her new role on December 1.

Middlesex’s chief executive officer, Andrew Cornish, said of the new appointment: “We are delighted that Kari has accepted the role of participation director and are looking forward to her starting in her new position.

“We were fortunate to have interviewed some exceptional candidates for the role and were hugely impressed with the quality of applicants we saw, however at all stages of the process Kari shone through with her professionalism, her vision for the department and her obvious passion for developing new and maximising existing cricketing opportunities across the county.

“The work our participation team does in bringing cricket to the many communities that Middlesex comprises is an essential part of who we are as a club, and under Kari’s leadership we are looking forward to forging even closer ties to those communities and to making Middlesex a driving force in bringing cricket to the next generation.

“Everyone at the club wishes Kari all the best of luck in her new role.”

On the new role, Carswell said: “I’m really excited to take on the role as participation director at Middlesex Cricket and work with the participation team in getting cricket into even more of our communities, working closely with our clubs, wider partners and sponsors.

“We can’t wait to grow the game and get more and more people from all walks of life playing cricket and getting involved in the game, whether that’s coaching, officiating, in administration or coming to watch a game – we want to grow it all.”
