WHAT IS A COLUMN STILL RUM?

-

The column still has been around since the early 1800s, although pot still distillation is perhaps considered the most traditional. It is noted for its efficiency. Without teaching anybody to suck eggs, the name comes from the type of still in which distillation takes place. Column stills can be either copper or stainless steel and a variety of methods for column still spirit production exist, including single, twin or multi-column. As such, rums produced by column still vary greatly in flavour and mouthfeel.
