Peter

Nose: Bright, honeycomb, gentle cinnamon to start with. Softens into sweet oak, and gentle summer orchard fruits.

Palate: An initial big, rich sweet rush onto the palate. Nice oily texture that gives way to sherried notes and quirky virgin oak spikes.

Finish: Sweet sherry finish that lingers.

Comments: Progression from nose to finish is largely quite good, but there’s a disjointed aspect that upsets things.

Sam

Nose: A sweet nose with raisins, cinnamon and notes of baked apple pies.

Palate: A rich palate with good depth to it. Lots of caramel sweetness first of all, before there’s notes of oak, black tea and citrus peels. Someone’s rolling a cigar in the background as there’s a faint tobacco note.

Finish: Fairly long in length with a subtle hint of red berries.

Comments: A solid attempt at a sipping rum that has a lot of variety in its flavours.
