Nose: Full of smokey, ashtray, diesel-y, tarlike, industrial notes that sit with the lovely fruit notes of a long-aged spirit.

Palate: Sweet oak and ripe fruit. Spiced ginger, cardamom, white pepper, dried fruits of raisins, dates and mincemeat.

Finish: A medium long finish of mincemeat fades into a almost ash-like profile, that really must be tried.

Comments: This offers a nice balance of the down and dirty, with enough restraint to be a rum to linger over.

Sam

Nose: Nuts. Lots of them. Toasted and roasted too. There’s some booze-soaked raisins and a red wine note too.

Palate: Oaky, but enough sweetness of red fruits to stop it getting too much. Honey and a short coffee. Lots of spices all adding up to one enjoyable liquid Christmas cake.

Finish: More of the Christmas cake note, with a middling length. Smooth.

Comments: Great diverse flavours. Wears its ABV well and one to sit and ruminate with.
