Peter

Nose: Crushed sugarcane, sweet, fruity, and grassygreen. Fresh yeast-y dough, honeydew melon, grapefruit, green grapes, tangerine and fennel.

Palate: A little oily. Sweet and fruity. Lots of lovely gentle ripe summer fruits.

Finish: Reasonably lingering finish for an unaged spirit. Peppery, tingles.

Comments: Up-front intensity for this sugarcane juice rum, but it’s a really lovely example of just how different and intense sugarcane distillates can be.

Sam

Nose: Catches your attention from the off. Great freshness of sugarcane, fruit but enough grassyness to stop it becoming too one-dimensional.

Palate: A light, oily texture and delicate notes of summer fruit squash and freshly mown lawns.

Finish: Long and lasting. Slightest of spice notes.

Comments: Worth the entry fee for the nose alone. Great character to it and the fruit notes and supremely well handled. Good balance throughout.
