Nose: A blue-cheese, rhum agricole combination with tart plum notes, and a surprising amount of salinity. Rubbery rhubarb, vanilla and a little lemongrass. A complex affair.

Palate: Super sweet and oily. Lots of bright summer fruits, with a nice hint of vanilla custard.

Finish: Ripe plums lead into a sharper, more tart finish that lingers long.

Comments: An absolute curveball of a spirit. A whacky combo of all sorts of things – and one that I suspect will work nicely in a punch.

David

Nose: The fragrant, grassy aromas of the agricole come through and blend well with the jammy stone fruit of the mirabelle plum.

Palate: Lightly sweet rum notes are in harmony with the fragrant floral fruit of a mirabelle eau de vie. Spiced plum crumble with rich vanilla custard.

Finish: Lingering spice, with a gentle tartness of fruit and a hint of almond.

Comments: As rum liqueurs go, this is sublime: an unusual combination of flavours, but it hits all the notes perfectly.
