Nose: A large waft of pear drops fills your nose instantly. A touch of tropical fruits – pineapple and banana. Caramel sweetness pervades.

Palate: Pillow soft. Candyfloss sweet and initially quite simple. Gentle notes of ripe peach.

Finish: An exhale of peppermint surprises but feels entirely appropriate. Prickly oak, dry, lingering, and a little peppery.

Comments: The about-face from the nose to the palate and into the finish is something else. Really engaging.

David

Nose: A gradually unfurling nose of woody, freshly cut pear, double cream, and tarte tatin, followed by a sprinkling of spice and sandalwood.

Palate: Exceptionally fruity with baked plum, cassia, stewed apple, and caramel. Slinky and silky in texture and notably sippable. Complex, but not overly estery.

Finish: Buttery brazil nut with peach and papaya too.

Comments: A truly delightful spirit and an example of Jamican pot still rum at its finest.
